Owners of improved real property must not permit tall grass and weeds to exceed a height of more than 12 inches. Property owners must keep their property free from any trash and debris, rubbish, junk, litter, and dead or fallen trees.

It is unlawful to keep, store, cause or allow to be kept or stored, on any property within the City any dismantled, partly dismantled, inoperative, or discarded personal property such as machinery, motor or other type vehicles, boats, trailers, scrap metal, or junk.

Unless rendering services to a residential location, the parking of any commercial vehicle in a residential area is prohibited. A commercial vehicle is defined as a vehicle having more than four (4) wheels, more than two (2) axles, over eight (8) feet in height, or more than 22 feet in length.

All recreational vehicles, such as motor homes, campers, boats, trailers, etc. must be parked to the rear of the front and/or side corner building line, with the exception of self-propelled motor homes under 22 feet in length.

Building and/or right-of-way use permits may be required for structural repairs, new fencing, most plumbing work, electrical work, mechanical work, roof jobs, driveway additions, or any work performed in the road right-of-way. A permit for removal of trees on commercial and residential parcels over one (1) acre is also required.

Residents may have up to two (2) garage sales per year. Each event shall not exceed three (3) consecutive days. No permit is required and temporary signs may be placed on the property where the garage sale is being conducted. Signs must be removed after the garage sale. No off-premise sign may be erected.

The maintenance of a structure is the responsibility of the property owner. Any wood, siding, shingles, soffit, fascia, roof covering, walls, ceiling, porches, doors, windows, screens, and other exterior parts of a structure must be maintained in good repair. All exterior painted surfaces must be kept in good repair and free of mildew and rust.

All fences shall be maintained in their original up-right condition. Fences or walls designed for painting shall be maintained in their original condition. Missing or damaged boards, ironwork, wire, fabric, or posts shall be replaced in a timely manner.

Numerals indicating the official numerical address for each principal building or each front entrance to such building shall be posted on the building in such a manner as to be clearly visible from the street on which the building is located. The numerals shall be a minimum of three (3) inches in height and 1/2 inch in width and of a contrasting color to the building.

In a residentially zoned district, a home Business Tax Receipt may be issued when the home is used only as a location for a business phone and an address for business correspondence. There shall not be any walk-in or drive-in business to the residence, no storage of goods or equipment, or parking of commercial vehicles.

Trash containers and recycling bins shall not be at curbside other than after 5:00 P.M. the day prior to the collection and the day of collection.
